Our Story

Zumi was born from a simple belief: childhood doesn’t slow down, and neither should the clothes that come along for it. We design pieces that keep up with every part of growing up, from morning rushes to endless play and the quiet moments in between. 

Thoughtfully made with soft, durable fabrics, our clothes are meant to move freely, feel easy, and last through it all. Because when kids are comfortable, they’re free to be themselves - curious, messy, joyful, and always in motion. 

Zumi isn’t just about what they wear, it’s about being there for the days that don’t slow down and the memories made along the way.

MEET OUR FOUNDERS

ISHITA SHAH

I am a textile designer, and my world has always been shaped by fabric - its texture, its movement, and the stories it quietly holds. Over the years, I’ve lived and worked across different cities - Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, New York, each place adding a new lens to how I understand design. 

My connection to children’s clothing is deeply personal. I grew up surrounded by handmade clothes that my Nani would hand-stitch and embroider. I still have some of them today. Those pieces weren’t just clothing; they were memories, care, and emotion woven together. In many ways, this brand is our way of carrying forward the care and craftsmanship we grew up with.

KRISHA SHAH

I’ve always been someone who finds joy in colours, stories, and little details that make people feel something. My background as an architect taught me to design spaces by focusing on how functional, meticulous details can subtly influence emotions and interactions, building an emotional connection. Somewhere along the way that passion for creativity found a new playground - kids wear. 

Some of my fondest memories growing up are the ones where my mom and dad helped me pick out clothes for special occasions and somehow those are the memories i stay with. The feeling of excitement, comfort, and nostalgia is a big part of what inspired us to create Zumi.

We had always shared the desire to build something together. That idea stayed with us through different phases of life, quietly waiting for the right time. When our two little nephews were born, something shifted for both of us. It brought a sense of clarity and grounding, and we finally decided to begin this journey together.
